Do you think language unites or divides us?
We know language is key for communication.I think language divides us. It divides us because it shows identity. It shows who we are. For example if a person speaks Chinese it shows who that person is. I believe language divides us because when I came to America I didn't know how to speak English and I wasn't able to make friends since everyone spoke English. I felt lonely, and I used go every where by myself.
According to the story a person who know something his own language, but cant express in another language. This will cause the person to stay away from other person because he cant share his ideas. Sometimes in the case of an argument, you feel you canot convey your point across to the other person because of language differences. For this reason an independent person will think you can't win the argument.http://youtu.be/3SuCT8vUOVs

My immigration experince
It was hard for me to leave where I grew up. Leaving my home country was the most difficult decision in my life. I faced many problems when I emigrated to the United States of America. First of all, coming to America wasn’t my intention. It was my brother’s decision for us to come here. Because he lived alone in here, he wanted to live with his family. Thus, He convinced my older siblings to come to America. He told them that America is the best place to live in the world. Finally, he sponsored us, and that is how we came here. Now, we are all rejoicing to live together in America.
Secondly, not knowing the language was another problem that I faced when I came here. As we know language is the key of success in live. When I started school, my classmates weren’t friendly to me. I felt lonely because I didn’t’ know how to read, write, and speak English. Every single day student laughed at me. When I tried to make friends, they spoke English and I didn’t understand their language. I used to go everywhere by myself. In my English class, there was only one student who spoke Somali language, all of the students spoke different languages and English. It was hard to me to speak English.
Finally, today I feel, I have accomplished a lot of things. I believe I have a lot of opportunities which I didn’t have before. I have got free secondary and higher education. I graduated high school and I go to college. I live in prospect and peaceful life that many people around the world do not have. I am pretty sure; coming to America changed my life. However, I still feel I don’t fit in America. I feel am not yet in America. It will take many years to be American and attain the American Dream. Hopefully, one day, I will reach my goals.
